Word Count

Today I have posted two other posts, but I needed to make one more.  I have started writing one of my books today and I am very happy with my word count.  I was able to get 1100 + words down on paper today!  This is a very awesome goal for me.  I decided to just go in and write what I was thinking and I will edit later.  I am not watching for grammatical errors or anything of the sort.  I haven't gotten into dialog at all yet but I do have a start.  So far the only problem I am having is trying to have a flow.  I have so many things that I am thinking and I don't know how to put them in the right order.  I am sure it will all come out in the wash eventually!

Free Course Finished

I finished the course and really learned quite a lot.  I have always been worried about what POV I want to use.  I thought that first person would be easiest...because I can put myself into that character and feel and see what she or he is seeing.  I will probably still stick to this pov because I feel I can do a better job with it, however I would like to try my had at 3rd Person because there can be so much more depth to the story.  I have also learned how important it is to KNOW my character.  How she would react and what would cause that reaction.  What happened to her in the past that makes things different now?  I need to get started, I got myself a digital recorder that I have always felt weird using but why I am not quite sure.  I am really going to start trying to use it.

Starting out!

I have so many idea's in my head that I would love to make into books.  I have never claimed to be a great writer but I need to prove to myself that I can do this.  I want to finish something that is important to me.  So on this twenty second day of March 2011 I am beginning my journey.  I have found a free online creative writing course that I am going to start today to try to make myself a better writer.  I am very creative but when it comes to actually putting things together I end up choppy with my sentences and it just sounds bad.  I must remember that I am only starting a rough draft of my first real story so I need not be so concerned how choppy the sentences are and just let my fingers type my thoughts!

I will be writing about the things I learn on this journey and trying to keep a word count of my work.  I have not decided yet if I will do a outline or not but I guess I should.  That is what the pro's do...it just seems like so much work.  Then again no-one ever said writing a book was easy!

Heading off now to do my first lesson in the free workshop I have found and I will be back to let you know how it went!
